12/27/06 and previous - BJJ - Armbars

Armbar from guard

  • Left arm grabs their wrist on same side
  • Right arm grabs across and over top to their right elbow/tricep
  • Your left arm grabs their head
  • Your left leg goes tight to their hip and your right leg under their armpit on top of their shoulder to help keep them down
  • Rotate your body
  • Your left arm pushes their face away
  • Your left leg swings over to complete the arm bar
  • Keep your knees pinched and their thumb up
  • Hyper extend with your hips

Armbar from mount
  • In mount, lay down o top of them and smother them
  • As they push you up put your right hand inside and your left hand outside and on top like you are doing CPR
  • Squat up in base
  • Step over
  • Sit and armbar

Armbar from Side Control

  • If they reach arm around head (your far shoulder)
  • Trap arm
  • Jump to knee on belly
  • ste leg around and over
  • Armbar (will be on the opposite side that you started from)

Armbar from back
  • Your right hand grabs their left sleeve to create space
  • Left hand slips in to grab wrist
  • Right leg opens and goes to left side of their head/face to push them down
  • right leg slips back over to armbar

Breaking armbar defense

  • If they grab arm or lapel
  • put your fingers under theirs or
  • knife hand w/ side of your hand
