I decided yesterday afternoon (after 4 slices of pizza at work) that I might try cutting weight for the BJJ tournament in two weeks. Since weigh in is only2 hours before the tournament dehydration isn't going to work very well for me.
Right now I have 2 scales. My electronic scale at home weighed me in at 175lbs this morning. My parents doctor style scale weighed me in at about 180 lbs last night. Which one is right? Im not sure. Ill have to keep an eye on my weight using both scales I guess. The two weight classes I could be in are middleweight(150-169.9) and cruiserweight(170-189.9). If I only need to loose 5 lbs then I know I should be able to do that in 2 weeks. If I have to loose 10 lbs...I don't know. I would hate to lose 9 lbs and end up at the bottom of the cruiserweight devision.
My plan to lose weight is as follows:
- Cut back (out) on dry carbs as much as possible. This is kind of hard sometimes because most snacks that I can eat at work are packed with them. I am going to have to start cooking my own veggies to take to work. I don't want to put any extra pressure on Erin with cooking. So cook my own veggies and buy some fruit. If I am out to eat I will start eating w/o the bun and ask for extra veggies.
- No more dessert/junk food till after the tourney. My downfall is sweets. I will cut these out completely since its two weeks away.
- No Soda or high sugar drinks. I'm pretty good with this one already since I rarely drink anything other than water. But I will make sure I don't fall into the trap at any parties.
- Drink plenty of H20
- Cardio, cardio, cardio! Use my parents elliptical machine as much as possible. Try to go on a walk at work every day. Go to SBD and BJJ. Any other work out at home is cardio related. Skip rope.
- Ease up on weight lifting. If I do any weight lifting do a lot of reps with lighter weights.
- Natural cleansers? Maybe my dad going on this organic health kick is a good thing. Im going to call him today and talk to him about colon cleansing and what not. I just want to get that done this week though so I'm not crapping my pants during the tournament.
- Eat plenty of fiber. Along the lines of pooping my pants...fiber helps with weight loss.
- Take my vitamins
- Get as much sleep as I can. With two kids that is hard sometimes. I need to see my wife and Ive got websites to do on the side. I'm not talking about getting 10 hrs of sleep or anything but just make sure im not up late watching TV while Erin is asleep on the couch.
